Pioneered by Joseph Pilates and engineered over many decades, pilates equipment-based exercises and individual training allows you to tailor your training for maximum results. Based on correct breathing, good posture and intense concentration, exercises are performed on a mat or on specifically designed equipment. The exercises build progressively on each other and the movements are executed with control and precision.
The emphasis is on form rather than just strength and repetition. Close supervision by a qualified physiotherapist ensures rehabilitation and recovery is at the most appropriate level for participants.
The PilatesWISE difference
PilatesWISE has evolved with research and focuses on strengthening the core stabilisers of the spine and then building on the outer layers for dynamic control. Your pilates experience will be under the instruction of a physiotherapist who understands all of this and what it means for your body. PilatesWISE uses an anatomical based approach to the original exercise method pioneered by Joseph Pilates. It incorporates modern exercise and science rehabilitation principals, eliminating contraindicated movements, whilst emphasizing neutral alignment, core stability and peripheral mobility. Proprioception and balance is addressed in the PilatesWISE classes and studio training to stimulate the neuromuscular system. The method is low impact with partial and non weight bearing exercises.
