Central Coast 7’s is an international Rugby Sevens tournament which takes place every October. The 3 day event attracted teams from across the globe for the men’s & women’s tournament. And the school boys’ tournament ran for its second year providing NSW boys an opportunity to play in a high level framework. Thuy headed up the Physiotherapy crew which included PhysioWISE colleagues Wilson and James along with student Louie Daher. Also helping out were a couple of colleagues from the Central Coast who Thuy has worked with before. International clubs gathered at the event from countries such as Fiji, Japan, Samoa, New Zealand and of course Australia. There was plenty of activity on and off the field and the language barrier with some players didn’t hinder the effectiveness of the Physiotherapists. As to be expected, many different injuries came through the tent, ankle sprains, shoulder injuries, and a corked thigh to name a few. The players received first class treatment including pain free manual techniques, soft tissue releases, Kinesio Taping and of course education for ongoing management. The day was full of energy with obvious enjoyment plastered on the face of the players and Physios. And what would an international competition be without half time dance performances and delicious Fijian food?! Congratulations go to the Northern Suburbs Rugby Club winners of the Men’s division earning the top spot with a 38-24 win over the Fijian side “Red Rock”. Queensland team, “Tribe” dominated the Women’s competition with a 21-7 win over team Sunnybank in the final. Tribe led with an impressive 14-0 in the first half until Sunnybank made a comeback before the break for a 14-7 score. Sunnybank, former champions in 2012, pressured through most of the second half dominating possession of the ball but team Tribe scored a runaway try with three minutes on the buzzer. Nail biting stuff! PhysioWISE Practice Manager Clint Bridges was on hand to present Tribe with their winners trophy and cheque. The 2013 event was a great success for organisers, players and Physios alike. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this top level tournament...

PhysioWISE Director Thuy Bridges presented at the Australian Physiotherapy Association annual conference on 19th October 2013. At the request of the Animal Physiotherapy group, Thuy presented at a breakfast session highlighting how Kinesio Tape can be utilised to effect changes on both humans and animals. No animals were allowed in the venue, so Thuy had to call upon the humans in the audience to demonstrate the Kinesio Taping techniques! Thanks to Karen (one of the delegates enjoying her breakfast at the time) for donating her rotator cuff issue for Thuy to use as a live demonstration. By taping Karen’s problematic deltoid, Thuy managed to increase her strength and eliminate the pain that Karen was feeling through everyday movements. Elsevier (the international book publishers) then asked Thuy to do some live demonstrations from their stand in the trade show area of the conference and many more physios were able to experience first-hand the sort of results that our loyal PhysioWISE clients receive every...

PhysioWISE Director Thuy Bridges was asked to present at the Association of Massage Therapists’ annual conference in October 2013. As an Anatomy Trains Associate Teacher she conducted a full day pre-conference workshop which highlighted to the participants the links between different muscles that lie along the Superficial Back Line. Thuy also demonstrated treatment techniques that she utilises in the PhysioWISE clinics with great effect. Then it was time to put on her Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor hat and present a half-day workshop covering the basics of Kinesio Taping along with demonstrations showing how instantaneous results can be obtained when you know how to use Kinesio Tape properly. It was a fantastic conference – with many other great presenters conducting a range of lectures and workshops over the three days. It was also great to see what a switched on bunch of therapists the conference delegates were. Massage therapy in Australia is in good hands if the AMT conference is anything to go...

In 2012, Thuy and Clint Bridges were part of the Swisse Mark Webber Tasmania Challenge, looking after transitions throughout the event and providing assistance to the athletes on the course and after a hard day’s racing. A number of the athletes (and support staff) benefited from Thuy’s expertise in Kinesio Taping as well as High Performance management. In 2013, PhysioWISE has been engaged by Mark Webber’s management, Octagon, as the official Physiotherapy Team for the Challenge, looking after the athletes’ injuries, performance and general weariness as they race through Tasmania over 5 days. This gruelling challenge not only brings together elite athletes from all over the world, but also raises much needed funds for the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal as well as Whitelion....
